🚨 STATEMENT | Justice à la carte: the bourgeois State shows its true face

From SolidarioGB we express our strongest condemnation of the politicised instrumentalisation of justice against opposition sectors of the Ecuadorian government. What they dress up as legality is nothing but class vengeance masquerading as due process.

The bourgeois State — that machinery in the service of a dominant class — has revealed its true essence: whenever power feels challenged, it discards every basic guarantee of due process and places its entire institutional apparatus — prosecutors, judges, media — directly at the service of persecution and proscription. Those who only yesterday were part of the same bourgeois democratic sphere are today imprisoned, silenced and erased.

The dictatorship of capital entrenches itself hand in hand with US imperialism, which applauds persecution when it suits its interests and plays the innocent bystander when the people suffer. Justice à la carte: they serve some, they punish others.

⛓️ Freedom for all political prisoners in Ecuador!

We denounce before the international community the repressive policies of the illegitimate government of Daniel Noboa, which has turned Ecuador’s prisons into an instrument of punishment against political dissent, imprisoning leaders, activists and opponents with no guarantees of due process, while backing from US imperialism shields every abuse. Prison cannot be the answer to protest or to political opposition.

📢 This situation must not leave us indifferent. To speak out against it is the duty of every militant, comrade women and men, and of democratic, progressive and left-wing organisations — here in Great Britain and in every corner of Our America. Solidarity is not a moral gesture nor an appendage of our struggle: it is our weapon.

We demand the immediate release of all political prisoners in Ecuador. Not one step back. True justice for the people, not for the powerful.
