-Solidario GB
It is worrying to find out that some more ‘radical’ left wing parties in the Chavist project have decided to go forward with their own projects in the next Venezuelan elections of the 6th of December 2020, and under the constant threat of war by Colombia and its north american ‘yanqui’ imperialist ally.
In 2007, when several left wing parties opted for their dissolution and at the same time become a part of the Unified Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV, acronym in Spanish), there were several other left wing parties that did not do so. These were: Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), Fatherland for All (PPT), Tupamaros, Class Struggle Party, United Left Venezuela, Revolutionary Council for People’s Power 200, Network of Communards, amongst other movements, organizations, and unions.
Up until then all these parties where in the electoral alliance Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) however, on the 11th of August 2020 the PCV decided to create, with the above-mentioned parties, their own electoral vehicle the so called Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR), to face the general elections announced by the maduro government, in December of this year.
Angel Villalobos, a member of the regional Zulia secretariat and member of the PCV explains their principle reasons when in their proposal they propose to “create a left wing political force to confront two urgent elements”, as well as “group all forces to defend against imperialist agressions, above all european and north american”.
But Solidario GB knows their reasons go deeper than these. In a public issue the PCV says that they have important differences with the APR and the government of Maduro. The main one, according to a statement issued by the APR is a “political proposal that ensures the rescuing of the conquests that were achieved with Chavez -and that have been dismantled by this government-“. Moreover the APR emphasizes that the “Unitary Agreement Framework”, which was signed by both parties on the 26th of February 2018, has not been accomplished.
In our view, at the Solidario GB platform, there are several edges to this emerging reality that worries us and that first of all draws our attention to this APPARENT process of radicalization and distancing of a sector of Chavismo:
1. The participation and probable influence of Class Struggle Party in the APR, which is the Venezuelan section of the International Marxist Tendency, a Trotskyist tendency.
2. The divisive and sectarian potential of this proposal, at least at first sight
3. The loss of seats by the Chavista project in general
4. And, therefore, the possibility that Chavismo, as a project, looses popular support and the upcoming elections.
5. The lack of consistency by the Venezuelan government and the APR, with regards to union, solidarity, and the people’s interests.
We emphasize that this process is of the Venezuelan’s to resolve internally, and that there must not be any foreign interference much less from imperialism in internal affairs in a sister country that makes up the Great Latin American Fatherland.
However, as friends of this revolutionary and progressive process of “Socialism of the XXIst Century”, we are in the view that -taking into account Venezuelan reality and its war against imperialism- capitalism, and imperialist lackeys:
- All class struggle must be contested in all possible trenches, including the electoral one
- The revolutionary vanguard must always be accompanied by a people who are conscious, educated, and organised, in a consistent manner and never far away or separated from it
- The revolutionary unity of aims, objectives, and purpose is fundamental in all revolutionary struggle towards Socialism and then to scientific Communism.
- You cannot have in your organisation and cadre elements who are divisive, reformist, opportunistic, and impostors who use the organisation to defeat the worker’s objetives.
Here, also, some certain questions crop up, that are maybe uncomfortable for some:
How, being in a struggle with Maduro’s government, will you fight and win an invasion or war against the yanqui empire (and his lackeys)?
How will you benefit as a political project with a maximum 5% electoral support?
How will the people benefit from a left wing minority opposition?
Who will benefit from this action?
Taking into account the above-mentioned, we believe that not to struggle ‘from within’ in this process is a very dangerous tool in these moments of utmost imperialist aggression and can be taken by imperialism as a weak point of Chavismo and Maduro’s government. There cannot be a more popular and radial government in these crucial times in Venezuela.
On the other hand Maduro’s government gives signs of weakness when they give political space to right wing elements who had already been sentenced for crimes against public order offences.
From this Solidario GB platform, we humbly, make a call to all parties who want true socialism in Venezuela, to unite more than ever, and to fight on the same electoral platform to beat not only the right wing sell-outs but to carry on winning against imperialism, whose only aim is to destroy Socialism.
Lastly, we make a call to deepen the revolutionary process towards a true socialism and that a post-capitalist system be created, where human value and sharing with love is not only a slogan but a concrete reality. Where the creation of richness that is created by the workers, whether it be paid or not, be shared with equity, and where those in need have priority, where education is free for all, from nursery to university, where medicine is not a commercial product but a free and comprehensive service, where workers are no longer exploited and become a source of richness for all venezuelans.
If you have a good electoral result the possibilities will be nevertheless to negotiate with the PSUV, but this time with your left foot, or with less possibility of negotiating a good agreement.
The worst thing would be that the people lose out for a taste of an electoral moment, and that would really be a tragedy. Because the enemy lurks, any false step will be taken as an opportunity for the enemy to jump against the jugular of a combatant and revolutionary people.
We urge you to take the following step; unite and build a scientific and long lasting socialism, where you will lack nothing.
