In Solidarity with the People and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
15 November 2025
On behalf of the SolidarioGB Platform and its Coordinator, Mr Eduardo Salgado, we address the international public to express our firmest support for the urgent statements made by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, addressed to the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the peoples of Our America.
From Great Britain, we recognise the profound historical resonance of the call made from Santa Marta, the land that witnessed the final days of the Liberator, Simón Bolívar. His legacy of the struggle for continental unity as the only way to guarantee the true independence and dignity of peoples is not a relic of the past, but an imperative guide for the present.
We share the grave concern regarding the deployment of naval and aerial formations with offensive capabilities in the Caribbean, as well as the manoeuvres which have resulted in the loss of civilian lives—acts that have been described by United Nations experts as summary executions. These actions represent an unacceptable war-mongering escalation that threatens the peace and stability of the entire region. In accordance with the Venezuelan government and the principles of the UN Charter, we demand the immediate cessation of all military threats and aggression.
Furthermore, we join in the categorical rejection of the illegal, coercive, unilateral measures, commonly known as sanctions, imposed by foreign powers and blocs such as the European Union. Far from being legitimate instruments, these sanctions constitute a form of collective punishment. They violate the fundamental human rights of the Venezuelan people and other brother nations, hinder their economic and social development, and are a breach of international law. They represent a modern expression of a logic of domination which must be eradicated.
The SolidarioGB Platform firmly believes in the right of all peoples to self-determination, sovereignty, and to build their own destiny without external interference. We support the call for equitable dialogue, cooperation based on mutual respect, and the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean as the path to overcome current challenges.
We echo the spirit of the Jamaica Letter and the Alliance Congress of Panama, convened by Bolívar. Today, as then, unity is the antidote to hegemonic pretensions. We urge social movements, political actors, and solidarity groups across the world to raise their voices alongside Venezuela and CELAC. The international community must uphold justice and ensure that peace with equality, independence, and sovereignty prevails.
Peace will be our harbour!
Sincerely,
Eduardo Salgado
